About Us

Fiji US Sports and Social Association (FUSSA) was formed in 2002 . Over time the association has gone through numerous events and issues to make this ground breaking move a success! It was triggered by certain circumstance and concerns prevailing at the time, and which provided a learning experience to the founding members. They decided to set up their own Association with the solid commitment to run it on certain basic principles.

The primary motivation was to stimulate interest in soccer by organizing tournaments, league games and to elevate soccer to a higher standard. One main concern for the Association was torun in an orderly and fair manner, according to rules and regulations.

Secondly the Association's goal was to support the community with the following objectives in mind;

Scheduled Social Events - like movies, games or dance nights throughout the year. To meet the need of all our members we have different kinds of social events, like TEEN DANCE NIGHTS or a TABUA-NIGHT for our Fijian members and much more - we have FUN events for EVERY member.

Scheduled Educational Events - 4x per year we will organize educational events at our club house just for our members; we will do surveys to pick the right topics, which are needed and wanted from our members; like the education of our youth players in drugs, healthy food, why exercise is important and more to help our youth and adult members to lead better lives - we in
FUSSA thinks that a soccer club has a responsibility for his members and can have a big positive influence on the community.

Safe hang-out place for your kids, teenagers and for adults as well; enjoy our games such as soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Rugby and soon to come, Golf; meet with your friends and have a nice chat while enjoying Yaqona, Lemonade or Tea.

FUSSA - is proud to bring the National Fiji Soccer team to USA in 2007. Our support to the players from Fiji and USA allowed us to provide Free entertainment to the Universities and Colleges of Northern California and Utah.

We continue to support other non-profits such as FANA with Fiji Festival providing ALL SPORTS events, organizing, promoting and recognizing individuals/teams.

FUSSA has also partnered with Fiji Aid International - a Non profit to generate funds to help provide medical and financial support to individuals in need of medical care or equipment within USA and Internationally.

FUSAA is a California Soccer North (CSAN) and FIFA approved league in Northern California aiming to provide professional level sports to all individuals and entertainment for the community.

Bringing an organization to a stage where it can achieve its declared mission is not an easy thing. It takes time, dedication and perseverance on the part of all its members and participants As the Association’s President, I acknowledge the hard work and commitment that has gone into bringing the Association to its current stage.

We achieved most of objectives we set for ourselves and honored the commitments we made. We have introduced the essential spirit of cooperation, team spirit and competitiveness that can only lead to increasingly higher standards in soccer. We have also been successful in running the Association in an orderly and professional manner.

The Association has also embarked on a program to develop and form a select team which will represent our Association in premier league in the Peninsula and to also have a traveling team ready to participate in tournaments in other countries like Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The Association continues to be very dynamic and active in promoting soccer and in serving the interests of its members. Although these place a lot of demands on funds, I am pleased to report that the Association continues to enjoys a sound financial position.
